Connected Rogers

by

One of the benefits of being a Rogers Digital TV customer is having unlimited 24/7 access to 40 music channels and over 1,000 music videos  available on TV at Rogers on Demand, Channel 100 and online at rogersanyplacetv.com.  And the best part, both these services are already included in your Digital TV service. You can even customize your own music video playlists online! Unlike radio, all 40 Galaxie live music channels are commercial-free, and there’s no distracting chit-chat between songs, either. Also, if you want to know what’s playing, the title and artist are displayed on-screen. Plus, new songs are added monthly. You can tune in to the Galaxie music channels online while you work on your laptop, or blast them from your TV sound system while you clean the house.

Planning a polite dinner party? Flick your remote to one of the five classical channels and enjoy continuous background Baroque (channel 741) or Chamber Music (channel 740) without interruption.

Or perhaps you’re hosting a kick-ass dance-a-thon in your living room. Flick to Dance Clubbin’ (channel 714), Urban Beat (channel 717), Flashback ’70s (channel 720) or to one of the other 12 pop channels on offer.

Pick a style to suit your mood or occasion. Choose from six music genres – Pop, Rock, Jazz, Country, Classical and GalaxiePlus special-interest, which includes Electronic (724), Folk Roots (729), Chill (715), Nature (749) and Spa (738). Each genre features numerous sub-genres within, such as Easy Listening (747), Adult Alternative (726), Blues (727), Jukebox Oldies (719), Hot Country (730), Big Band (748) and Jazz Masters (746).

Go to RogersAnyplaceTV.com, click on Channels, then choose the Galaxie logo (for live-streaming music) or the Galaxie Music Videos logo (for videos).

Our top 5 channels

THE CHILL LOUNGE – Channel 715

Montreal mixer and composer Philippe Cambron programs a hip and groovy selection of soft electronica, trip hop and downtempo beats in order to create a very chilled aural landscape, particularly handy for dinner parties or evening cocktails. Featured artists include Biosphere, Boards of Canada, Boozoo Bajou, Ganga, Bebel Gilberto, Goldfrapp, Liquid Loop, Moby, the Orb, William Orbit, Beth Orton, Prefuse 73, Radiohead, Röyksopp, Thievery Corporation and Zero 7.

REMEMBER THE ’80s – Channel 721

Who could forget? The top 40 musical legacy of the ’80s remains as tangible as ever. Yep, this was the decade dominated by the synthesizer and New Wave. Musiqueplus programmer Patrick Binette serves up a deliciously nostalgic selection from the likes of New Order, Duran Duran, ABC, Human League, Eurythmics, Soft Cell, The Cure, Prince, Blondie, Madonna, the Police and the Pet Shop Boys.

HIT LIST – Channel 713

This one couldn’t be simpler. Hit List is a one-stop destination for all the latest Top 40 chart-toppers from the likes of Adele, Lady Gaga, Jesse J, Kelly Clarkson, One Direction, P!nk, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Dragonette, Deadmau5, Maroon 5 and, of course, the Bieber. This channel is programmed by former Toronto radio music director Henry Van Den Hoogen, who also adds a selection of hot tracks that he believes are either destined for the Top 40, or should be.

EASY LISTENING – Channel 747

Like Hit List, channel 747 is immensely popular, providing a very relaxing and cheerful background of mostly instrumentals and the occasional soft vocal. These immensely familiar and timeless melodies from across the decades feature The Carpenters, Bread, James Galway, Barry Manilow, Henry Mancini, Frank Mills, Kenny G, Richard Clayderman and the London Symphony Orchestra.

THE SPA – Channel 738

As the name suggests, this is where you come to calm your soul and refocus, with a peaceful soundscape of New Age electro-acoustic instrumentals featuring the sounds of George Winston, Kitaro, Yanni, André Gagnon, Vangelis, Jim Brickman and Jesse Cook. Programmer Renée Gelpi is a professional counselling astrologer and well known for creating and hosting the long-running and popular New Age radio show Celebration Starsong.

Just read the latest "Connected" newsletter on streaming Galaxy music using anyplace tv. Says to click on Galaxy tab for music or Galaxy videos tab for videos. Using an iPad I only have one tab for Galaxy video and no tab for music only….why did a how to get published today if it isn’t possible to do? I am using the app, not the site – but in this era of tablets, why would they have different services?
